Day 16- Rotary Club of Ioannina

In the evening we were escorted to an art gallery in the town to see an exhibition of paintings by a locally based artist. The collection had the unifying theme of grapes and wine.

Our presentation:

We then prepared to attend a meeting of the Rotary Club of Ioannina to give our presentation. The club met at the 5-Star Hotel du Lac, and there were around forty attendees sat in a horseshoe formation. We sat at the head of the table with the President, Alex. The meeting followed a familiar structure and we took ‘to the stage’ after a meal.

We decided to shorten the content of the presentation a little to allow for Kostas to translate to the club after each section. At the end of the prepared content, each of the team members talked about their vocational experiences arranged by the club: Jon talked about the theatre trip the day before; Rich about the law office; Becky about the university and school visits she had made. We gratefully received a gift each from the club president: travel clocks bearing the rotary club name for the men, and a silver brooch from the region for Becky. We exchanged banners and thanked the club for their hospitality.

Following the meeting, the team wound down in the Jazz Club in town with one of the Rotarians, Vasilis, and one of Rich’s new legal contacts Kalliopi Rousaki.

Vasilis, Jon, Ian and Rich with the speciality: five litres of Jazz Beer!
